Year Round

The South Hams enjoys the mildest year round climate on mainland Britain and is designated an area of Outstanding Beauty.  Two good reasons to explore the area in the quieter months.

Our cottages are luxurious and cosy, the perfect choice for a restful few days in a quiet setting.  They have full heating and a woodburning stove (except Granary Cottage) with “help yourself” log store and are open year round. For Christmas, a fresh tree from Dartmoor is placed in your cottage, with lights on, ready for you to decorate.  For New Year, a bottle of bubbly is chilling in your fridge. Bring your dog and explore this beautiful area, we provide doggy treats and have a specific shower and wash down area for rinsing off after muddy walks and rinsing sandy paws.

Our stunning indoor swimming pool is open daily from 8 am to 8 pm and kept at around 29.5 degrees C with underfloor heating and leisure towels provided, the indoor play room next door to the pool house is perfect to keep little ones entertained for hours with a selection of toys and books.

Wrap up for a walk in the countryside nearby, venture onto Dartmoor for breathtaking views or explore part of the south west coastal path.   Stop at a beach café for hot chocolate or find a country pub for a lazy lunch.  Head to a pub for Sunday lunch or take the sea tractor to Burgh Island for a meal at The Pilchard.

Browse Dartmouth’s art galleries, explore the funky, individual shops in Totnes, buy stylish clothes in Kingsbridge or Salcombe and search for antiques in Ashburton.  Head to farmers markets, delicatessens and family owned butchers and bakers for delicious local food.

In December, Dartmouth has a candle lit weekend, Kingsbridge Celebrates Christmas with outdoor stalls/entertainment and Totnes have their well established Christmas night markets.

Book a round of golf at Dartmouth or Bigbury, or some pampering at a local spa.  Walk the gardens at Overbecks or visit a castle close by.

Treat yourself to dinner at The Seahorse restaurant in Dartmouth, a late breakfast at Alf Resco café or pizzas with the children at nearby Crabshell Inn overlooking the water.

Catch a movie at the local Cinema or settle in for the evening – light your woodburning stove, put on a DVD and enjoy a glass or two of wine – in your stylish “home from home”.

Here at WCG we are always on the look out for new and exciting adventures, the best place to enjoy a bite to eat or share a bottle of wine, we even check on the best beaches to build sand castles! All for our guests to enjoy and make their stay more memorable.
