Year round

The South Hams enjoys the mildest year round climate on mainland Britain and is designated an area of outstanding beauty.  Two good reasons to explore the area in the quieter months.

Our cottages are luxurious and cosy, the perfect choice for a restful few days in a quiet setting.   They have full heating and a woodburning stove (except Granary Cottage) with generous "help yourself" log store and are open year round including Christmas and New Year.

Our stunning indoor swimming pool is open daily from 8.30 to 8 pm and kept at around 29 degrees with underfloor heating and leisure towels provided.

Wrap up for a walk in the countryside nearby, venture onto Dartmoor for breathtaking views or explore part of the south west coastal path.   Stop at a beach café for hot chocoloate or find a country pub for a lazy lunch.  Head to The Millbrook Inn, our personal favourite, for one of their Sunday jazz lunches or take the sea tractor to Burgh Island for a meal at The Pilchard.

Browse Dartmouth’s art galleries, explore the funky, individual shops in Totnes, buy stylish clothes in Kingsbridge or Salcombe and search for antiques in Ashburton.  Head to farmers markets, delicatessens and family owned butchers and bakers for delicious local food.

In December, Totnes evening Christmas markets attract good crowds, Dartmouth has a candle lit weekend and Kingsbridge has late night shopping with outdoor stalls.

Book a round of golf at Dartmouth Golf & Country Club or some pampering at Dart Marina spa.  Walk the gardens at Overbecks or visit a castle close by.

Treat yourself to dinner at Angelique or Mitch Tonks' Seahorse restaurant in Darmouth or a late breakfast at Alf Resco café.

Catch a movie at The Reel Cinema or settle in for the evening - light your woodburning stove, put on a DVD and enjoy a glass or two of wine - in your stylish "home from home".
